Apostle of Solitude

In anticipation of their forthcoming full length album "Sincerest Misery" I am sharing Apostle of Solitude's 2005 demo. You may be unfamiliar with this band now, but I predict they will make a serious mark on the underground metal scene when this album drops.

Apostle of Solitude play epic traditional style DOOM. Yes, in all caps, for it is Doom in the truest sense of the word. Listen and you will feel smothered by the atmosphere of gloom and hopelessness. Regularly compared to Candlemass, Cathedral (especially "Forest of Equilibrium") and of course, Sabbath (it is doom metal, after all), but what really sets Apostle of Solitude apart from the flood of modern doom bands are the soulful vocals of singer/guitarist Chuck Brown. This is not the usual Ozzy or Wino inspired singing typical of this type of metal, Brown has a style all his own. His vocals are clean, powerful and full of despair; like the woeful premonitions of some haggard prophet shambling out of the wilderness to let you know this shit hole is coming to an end right fucking now.

This demo is killer, but still a mere shadow of what was/is to come.
