Mistress- II: The Chronovisor
A friend turned me on to this one the other day (thanks Dave!)- totally raging sludge grind from Birmingham. This album is a lethal combination of Iron Monkey, Napalm Death and Crowbar. In other words, extremely goddamn hateful!
Lay yourself down son and watch the gathering crows
I also want to note that I was awakened this morning by the sound of the neighbor kids playing outside my window, one of them yelled "Long Live Lucifur!" Amen.

Apostle of Solitude
In anticipation of their forthcoming full length album "Sincerest Misery" I am sharing Apostle of Solitude's 2005 demo. You may be unfamiliar with this band now, but I predict they will make a serious mark on the underground metal scene when this album drops.
Apostle of Solitude play epic traditional style DOOM. Yes, in all caps, for it is Doom in the truest sense of the word. Listen and you will feel smothered by the atmosphere of gloom and hopelessness. Regularly compared to Candlemass, Cathedral (especially "Forest of Equilibrium") and of course, Sabbath (it is doom metal, after all), but what really sets Apostle of Solitude apart from the flood of modern doom bands are the soulful vocals of singer/guitarist Chuck Brown. This is not the usual Ozzy or Wino inspired singing typical of this type of metal, Brown has a style all his own. His vocals are clean, powerful and full of despair; like the woeful premonitions of some haggard prophet shambling out of the wilderness to let you know this shit hole is coming to an end right fucking now.
This demo is killer, but still a mere shadow of what was/is to come.
APOSTLE of SOLITUDE
demo 2005
1. of sorrow and ruin (instrumental)
2. pale, sick horse
3. surrounded by snakes

Sonsofbitches...Bumpusses!
Camp Climax for Girls were a tragically underrated band from Alton, Illinois. I was lucky enough to see them a couple times before they broke up. Difficult to describe or compare...they call it "gonzo blues", so I guess I'll just go with that. These dudes had some serious rock n roll power. If the power of the riff compels you, you needs this in your life.
been meaning to axe you
